The North Central Washington Music Educators Association is an organization of music teachers at all levels of instruction in the North Central region of Washington State. The NCWMEA is a regional affiliate member of the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA), the state level of the organization. WMEA is a state level affiliate of Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the national association for music educators
The members of NCWMEA are also members of these state and national organizations. Members are either working or retired music educators who teach in over twenty public school districts, six private schools, and two community colleges in North Central Washington. Although not all music educators that teach in the region are officially members of the organization, they and their students are served by the organization in many ways.
The most visible activity of the organization is organizing, hosting, and running the educational music festivals for the region's music departments. These festivals include: Band, Choral, Orchestra, and Mariachi Large Group Festivals; Regional Solo & Ensemble Contest; and the Biennial Gene "Sarge" Huber Honor Festival.
NCWMEA is also trying to organize in-service opportunities for the member teachers so they can further develop their strengths as music educators. Music education advocacy in the local communities of our region is also an important function of the organization.
This web site is designed to assist the music teachers in NCWMEA with information and guidance for our regional activities. However, if you are just a visitor, feel free to look around and see what we do.
